This watch was announced in 2011 by Kevin Ma, then AD with USSea-Gull, as a limited edition fully authorized homage to the earlier 1960s Tianjin Watch Factory built Wuyi/51 watches.
Tianjin Sea-Gull had been looking at other 51 re-issue styles, but they were 34-36mm and smaller than what Kevin envisioned for the western market, so he worked with Tianjin to prepare a special western/US edition.
